Get on your mark. Get set. Let's go!
Updated: Jan 4, 2022
Are you in search of a message for the new year? Do you need spiritual guidance to prepare you for what is ahead? I encourage you to read this blog for some spiritual insights.
At the start of each new year, I pray and seek to understand what the new year holds for me, my family, and my community. I pray earnestly to God, knowing He is God of all, knows all, and has an expected end for my life as noted in Jeremiah 29:11. Really, what that means is, He is in control of everything, and if I seek Him, He will provide an answer; in fact, every year, He gives me insight into what is ahead. Sometimes, it is a theme that sets the tone for the year. He has also given me direct messages that prepared me for specific experiences I would encounter. While there have been a few years of silence, I would argue, the silence is intentional; my God is very intentional.
So here we are at the start of a new year, and like always, I started with prayer and worship and here is the message I received…. Get on your mark. Get set. Let’s go! Interestingly enough, this message is not just for my family and me; it is for anyone that believes! Once the message was downloaded into my spirit, I immediately knew it had to be shared with others. I shared with my best friend, and she indicated a resonating response; my eldest son and daughter-in-law exclaimed agreement with excitement. Similarly, I pray this message invigorates you into action and preparation for what is to come.
Get on your mark. Get set. Let’s go! In normal fashion, we must break the phrases down. Deconstruction of the words is where I start when I receive any message. I was so excited to understand the practical application to see the spiritual aspects. First off, the entire phrase is composed of three commands typically stated to competitors at the start of a race, typically a running race. The mark pertains to a visible space on the course for the runner to get into starting position, in the right lane, and at the accurate starting place. Getting set is a warning that the indicator to start running is about to occur, and final positioning occurs. The final command to go is the command to run! These commands are given, and subsequent actions take place quickly, so there is no time to get ready; one must be ready at the start.
Here is the spiritual perspective: Get on Your Mark! You have prepared your whole life for this particular race. Life training has prepared you for 2022, now is the time to get on your mark, get in the position to start the race. You need to be at the right place-- at the right time--which requires you to actively listen to the Voice of the Lord-- Turn up the VOL™. Get in your Word of God (the Holy Bible). Pray. Fast. The Lord will lead and guide you to the starting mark.
Get Set! You must focus. This is the time to remove all distractions and compete for your life. The enemy wants nothing more than to kill, steal and destroy you. Any old tactic to get you out of the race and on the sidelines of your life. Take control and focus; anticipate the blessings of the Lord to help you. The Bible says that God daily loads us with benefits….daily He loads us with benefits…had to say it twice… think loaded baked potato….enough said…loads of benefits…look for them.
Let’s go! I changed it from “go” to “let’s go” to match the concept, we are not alone in this life race. God will never leave us nor forsake us. When He says go, you just start running. The Bible tells us to run the race to win the prize (I Corinthians 9:24). That essentially is saying to run with purpose and with everything within. Don’t try to perfect the book, the recipe, the business plan, the whatever; fill in the blank with your specific situation. God will see you through to the end. Just have faith and believe. Be obedient to the voice of the Lord and move with haste. This is a year of breakthroughs and miracles…my pastor said this is a year of open doors, and I agree……Get on your mark. Get Set. Let’s Go!!!
